Publication Design: Second Variety

Second Variety is a publication that uses excerpts from Philip K. Dick’s short story, Second Variety(1953), to experiment with typographic systems, image, & language.

Images NASA’s Curiosity Rover, late 19th century & early 20th century anatomy books, and the poem, The Telegraph(1858), by John Greenleaf Whitter make up the majority of the contents of Second Variety.

An early iteration of my typeface, Rudiment, was used in this publication as well as Theinhardt & Buisness.

8.5″ x 11″, 32 pages in length, Risograph printed with white & gold, on Siri Ultra Black, and pamphlet stitched, in small edition of twenty-five books.

A few copies are available, email me if you are interested in purchasing.
